Everything about Underwood's is Great, the food is Wonderful and the service is even better, from the employees helping on the service line, to the cashier and especially the lady with the tea cart, everyone was so nice and helpful, even one of the owners was greeting people and making them feel welcome. Is was quite a drive from the DFW area, but well worth it. I'm not sure when I'll be able to make it back again, but I hope it's sooner than later. Thanks again to all the employees that made my first time to eat there enjoyable. Mr. Underwood you have a Great people working for you,
We stopped at this Underwood's as Rich remembered when there was one in Lubbock where he was raised when young... that location closed... so... when traveling through Texas... we made it a point to stop by this one... rhe only one left... and still family run... The food was home style... and delicious... everyone there was kind and helpful... Am sure it will become a part of our routine when in Texas...
It might be one of the best restaurants in Texas. From the old 70s style theme to the sweet ladies taking orders and passing out rolls and homemade whip cream on your cobbler - it’s central Texas at its finest. Roast chicken was spectacular, and everything is now fried in beef tallow?? Amazing. All you can eat sides and cobbler. What more could you want in a restaurant? Worth the stop. Worth the drive.
Underwoods is great! It's an old school cafeteria style restaurant, where you pick your entree and then go down the line and load up your tray with all the fixings. They have a ton of sides to choose from, plus fresh rolls, desserts, and drinks, all of which are included in the price of your meal. You can even get a half portion of entree if you have a smaller appetite. You can go back for as many sides or desserts as you want. The peach cobbler is my favorite! The staff are super friendly and welcoming. While you are eating, servers come around to your table with hot rolls, and whipped cream to put on your desserts. It's the ultimate comfort food experience.
I love old style cafeteria restaurants and this one is exceptional! We drove through on a road trip and stopped to eat here. Both the fried chicken and the roast chicken are moist and delicious! Also the steak is good too! All the sides and the rolls are delicious! My favorite thing though is the housemade whipped cream! The cobblers were all good! The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great!
YUM YUM YUM! Visited 3/8/25 for a late lunch/early supper. Have driven by for years but finally visited and it was worth the wait. The food was absolutely delicious. We ate like kings for a very good price. Staff was warm, friendly and hospitable. In the dining rooms, employees came around with carts offering hot fresh rolls (superb), extra ice for drinks, whipped cream for cobblers, to go boxes, etc. Bathrooms were small but clean. Lovely music provided a nice backdrop to a hearty meal. Can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommend!!
I love cafeterias and awesome vintage signs. So maybe that's why I was drawn here. Passed it 4 times on some long road trips and now I can honestly say, I won't ever again. Such a warm welcome on our 1st visit. They must have known we were 1st timers by the wide-eyed look of wonder as we entered. So many choices! We were expertly guided along by a very kind and helpful staff. Get it all! Everything was delicious. The rolls, Y'all! The rolls should probably be illegal. The softest, I've ever had hands down. And if that wasn't enough, a wonderful woman is pushing a cart around with butter and utensils (I was so excited I forgot to grab mine in the line I guess) and fresh whipped cream for the warm cobbler that you better not miss out on. We left happy, full, and wanting to share this place with everyone we know.
